Established in 1997 as Canada's National Music School by Canadian Heritage, The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music offers the highest level of training in performance, pedagogy, and composition to gifted young musicians from all over Canada and the world. The programs of this school are considered by many to be among the most innovative curriculum for music study today.
Its mission is to train performing musicians for successful careers, to provide artistic leadership skills, and to inspire commitment to the transformation of contemporary society.
Performance diploma's in classical music (post-secondary and post-graduate) Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Tuba, Percussion, Harp, Piano, and Voice.
The Glenn Gould Professional School does not have housing for students. However, students have access to a housing registry and other resources in the Toronto area.
The Glenn Gould Professional School has a student council, which hosts a number of extracurricular activities for students. Activities include outings to cultural events throughout the city of Toronto, dances, and dinners. The student council is also involved in planning "Orientation Week", which is held for first year students prior to the first week of classes.
The Glenn Gould Professional School of The Royal Conservatory of Music has two MIDI labs with six power Macintosh computers and one fast Pentium based PC. The computers are connected to a variety of keyboards including Yamaha Disklaviers (MIDI enabled acoustic pianos), Yamaha Clavinova digital pianos, and Alesis QS-6 synthesizers. Each machine is loaded with several top brands of software used for sequencing, digital audio editing, notation, and pedagogy.
The Glenn Gould Professional School of The Royal Conservatory of Music houses the newly restored 237 seat Ettore Mazzoleni Concert Hall in which all of the concerts are held. This facility is the hallmark of music presentation at the school and it hosts concerts throughout the year featuring internationally acclaimed musicians and conductors.

British Columbia Open University and The Glenn Gould Professional School of The Royal Conservatory of Music have joined in association to offer Glenn Gould Professional School students the opportunity to earn an Open University Bachelor of Music (Performance) Degree. This enables Glenn Gould students enrolled in the Performance Diploma Program (PDP) to earn a block transfer of 70 credits towards the degree for studio work completed at The Glenn Gould Professional School.
